Locable for Publishers - The Quick & Dirty Edition
Publishers always want me to explain what Locable is in "15 seconds". Turns out this is impossible, in part because Locable is far-reaching and in part because publishers aren't well versed on the changing media landscape and their place within it.
With this in mind, I'll position Locable by contrasting it to existing "magazine websites".
You've built a great magazine business and for years it's thrived yet now you must evolve to survive and grow as the media landscape continues to change.
You can grow from your magazine business and become a media business... this means making money online without undermining or cannibalizing your print business - in fact quite the opposite is true, digital success should grow your print business.
You, Mr and Mrs. Publisher, have a bad website. It's not that it looks bad or doesn't do what it was designed to do (though either or both of those may be true) it's because it doesn't help move your business forward. It doesn't help you build community, it doesn't help you engage readers in new ways and it doesn't add new value to your advertisers.
You have a magazine that is great for a lot of things and creating a vibrant web presence to complement it is critical not only to your growth but to your survival - though it's not because print is dying. You can join the Locable Affiliate Network and partner with Locable to enhance, grow, and add a "media mindset" to the things you already do. The Locable Publisher Network ensures your readers have more ways to engage with your brand (in print, online and via social media); that advertisers can get more benefit from you and even their print campaigns; and, yes, that you can make more money by embracing change rather than avoiding it. Locable's publishing technology does things no other technology can do and enables us to do what is needed effectively and efficiently given your limited time and resources - that means we use our technology to build you a new website that is completely manageable even though you're run in 10 directions at once.
That's the short version of Locable. If you think this doesn't apply to your publishing business ask yourself the following questions:
- Do I make money online (real money that is significant)?
- Do I have a firm grasp of what it takes to drive thousands and perhaps tens of thousands of dollars each month in digital revenue? (this requires significant content, traffic and multiple streams of revenue)
- Do I have the resources (money, time, staff, technical capabilities) to do the things that need to be done to evolve from a publishing business into a media business?
- Do I use social media such as my Facebook page and email effectively to drive brand growth, engagement and revenue?
If you answered NO to any of these questions then you should explore the Locable Publisher Network
